Always Learning and Achieving Together

w/b 4th May

Hi Fox Class

I hope everyone is keeping safe and well, I’m really missing seeing all your happy, smiley faces.   Below are some ideas of activities to do this week.  I would suggest, if possible, that you do some phonics and reading every day.  Then try and do a little bit of writing, maths and topic when you can.

English / Topic

Phonics: keep practising the phase 5 sounds and blends, can you think of words that have each sound in? Could you then put these words into a sentence?

Key words: please pick another 5 words from the year 1 Common Exception Word chart to learn to read, spell and put into a sentence.  Can you then read it back and check it makes sense.

Reading: please continue to read any books you have at home, you could share them with a grown up, a sibling or even your pet.

Writing: Please make a poster about you! How old are you? When is your birthday? What do you like? What are your hobbies? What pets do you have?

Remember that each sentence needs a capital letter, finger spaces and a full stop or question mark.

This week we are revising measuring: length and height.   Could you ask someone to draw around you on paper or outside on the floor with chalk? Can you use a tape measure, ruler or any other measuring device to see how tall/long you are? How tall are you? Are you taller/longer or shorter than your mum/Dad/ Brother/Sister?  Can you use the vocabulary ‘taller, longer, shorter, the same as’ to describe your height or length?   Maybe you could measure some items around your home or garden if you have one.  What things are taller than you? Shorter than you? Can you find anything that is the same height or length as you?

Topic – science

This week we would have been looking at ‘Animals including humans’.  If you have been able to draw around yourself on paper or with chalk, could you label the different parts of your body such as head, shoulder, elbow, knee, ankle.  How many different parts can you label? I would love to see some photos of your creations.

Topic: VE Day

This Friday - the 8th of May is the 75th anniversary of the end of WW2.  Maybe you could make some Union Jack bunting and have a little tea party in your house/garden with your family or those you live with.

I hope you have a lovely week, take care and remember to wash your hands lots with soap!

Please email if you have any questions or concerns

Take care and stay safe, kind regards

Mrs Whitlock
