Murphy (EYFS / Y1)
Welcome to Murphy Class
Mrs Snowden (class teacher), Mrs Webb (class TA), Mrs Coleman (class TA) are so happy to be your teachers in Murphy Class. We are going to have such an exciting year at school.
Our class is named after the author Jill Murphy, who wrote stories such as Whatever Next and Peace at Last, not forgetting the Large Family book series!
Please come and speak to any of the EYFS / Year 1 team if you have any questions or queries; we are always happy to help.
Term 1
Our topic will be 'Goldilocks and the Three Bears' (EYFS focus) and 'How was School Different in the Past?' (Year 1 focus). See the relevant year group curriculum overviews for detailed information.
This term EYFS will learn phase 2 sounds (single sounds) and Year 1 children will revise Phase 3 and Phase 4 sounds in phonics, before moving onto Phase 5 towards the end of this term.
Please look at the curriculum information (Term 1) below for more details of all the wonderful learning we will be enjoying.
PE:
This term (Term 1) PE will be on Thursdays and Fridays. Children WILL need to wear PE kit to school on these days. Also children will enjoy Forest School sessions on Wednesdays so will need to wear PE kits (jogging bottoms - no shorts). Children can bring in their own wellie boots (named) to keep in school - which we use for busy time outside and for Forest School. However, we do have a good stock of Wellie boots if you can not provide a pair to remain in school. Boots from home MUST be named.
PE kit:
- Plain black / navy joggers and a plain black / navy sweatshirt or ‘hoodie’ or a normal blue school jumper.
- Plain black / navy shorts (not for Forest School), plain white t-shirt or white t-shirt with school logo.
- Daps or Trainers.
Please do not wear different colours or clothes with other logos.
Google Classroom:
Please make sure you have logged on to Google Classroom, as this is where I will send messages and add the Home Learning (every Friday). Information to follow.
If you would like a paper copy of the home learning, just let me know!
