Murphy (EYFS / Y1)
Welcome to Murphy Class
Mrs Snowden (class teacher), Mrs Webb (class TA), Mrs Coleman (class TA) are so happy to be your teachers in Murphy Class. We are going to have such an exciting year at school.
Our class is named after the author Jill Murphy, who wrote stories such as Whatever Next and Peace at Last, not forgetting the Large Family book series!
Please come and speak to any of the EYFS / Year 1 team if you have any questions or queries; we are always happy to help.
Term 6
Our topic will be 'Seasides' (EYFS focus) and 'What is it like to live by the coast?' (Year 1 Geography focus). See the relevant year group curriculum overviews for detailed information. In science, children will be learning about the human body and how to keep our bodies healthy.
This term EYFS will continue to learn to read and spell Phase 4 words (e.g. frog, string) and learn Phase 2, 3 and 4 tricky words. Year 1 children will continue to learn Phase 5 sounds and Phase 5 tricky words, revising all phonics learnt so far in preparation for the National Phonics Screening Test in June (Term 6 Week 2). Children will continue to read in small groups to an adult daily. We use 'Little Wandle' as our phonics programme.
Please look at the curriculum information (Term 6) below for more details of all the wonderful learning we will be enjoying.
PE:
This term (Term 6) PE will be on Mondays and Fridays. Children WILL need to wear PE kit to school on these days.
NOTE: Children can bring in their own wellie boots (named) to keep in school - which we use for busy time outside. However, we do have a good stock of Wellie boots if you can not provide a pair to remain in school. Boots from home MUST be named.
PE kit:
- Plain black / navy joggers and a plain black / navy sweatshirt or ‘hoodie’ or a normal blue school jumper.
- Plain black / navy shorts (not for Forest School), plain white t-shirt or white t-shirt with school logo.
- Daps or Trainers.
Please do not wear different colours or clothes with other logos.
