Resource Base 1 (RB1)

Welcome to RB1!

Our Resource Base 1 is designed to support children to flourish, enable them to access learning in a way that meet their needs and learning goals. This year the RB1 will run as one class throughout the building supported by a team of staff. The children follow a pre-formal, play-based curriculum, which is rooted in Development Matters and the EYFS framework. Learning focuses on early communication, interaction, play, and sensory experiences. As the year develops we may begin a semi-formal curriculum for those that are ready.  Children will also have individualised targets and interventions for their developmental stage, incorporating early literacy, numeracy, communication, and life skills within a structured but flexible framework.

We aim to nurture children’s personal development, communication, independence, and well-being and are incredibly excited to have you here.

Our staff team is made up of:-

  • Mrs Shiles - Class Teacher

Our wonderful assistant teachers are:-

  • Mrs Love (PPA cover Tuesday PM)
  • Miss Fry
  • Mrs Bicknell
  • Mrs Cabezas
  • Mr Millet

Please use Class Dojo to communicate with us, share information or if you have a question regarding your child or anything school related! We will use Class Dojo as a way to communicate with you about what your child has been doing in school, photographs of their learning and any questions we may have. New parents in September will be sent a link to create an account.

Later in the term, we will start our 'Story Sharing' sessions every week. Please continue to send in photos/news about what the children have been up to. This creates an excellent opportunity for the children and supports them in sharing their stories/news with the rest of the class.

In term 1, PE sessions will be on a Tuesday and Friday. Please ensure that your child has a full PE kit in school ready for our sessions. We will send them home at the end of the term to be washed.

Appropriate clothing for PE:

  • Black/blue shorts or jogging bottoms
  • White T-shirt – please only send in a T-shirt with the school logo on or plain white (no other logos please)
  • Sensible footwear – daps or trainers (daps are preferable for indoor PE as the Velcro fastenings support independence)

Please also ensure that your child has a snack for mid-morning and afternoon break if they are unlikely to eat the school-provided healthy snack (fruit or vegetables).

Warm regards,
