Our Enhanced Mainstream Provision (EMP) forms part of our graduated SEND offer. The goal is to provide a safe, supportive environment for children with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs who may need additional support to regulate their emotions.  

Our Enhanced Mainstream Provision incorporates The Haven Learning Base, ELSA and Nurture Interventions, Forest School and Animal Care as well as ad-hoc and planned wellbeing check-ins with children and their families.

Our interventions promote a positive ethos, having consistent and predictable routines and supporting children to develop SEMH skills which can then transfer back into the mainstream classroom. 

We aim to:

• help pupils to manage their emotions, develop positive relationships, and build resilience.
• promote and support positive behaviour
• support children to develop SEMH skills so that they can increasingly access their mainstream class.

Children who are accessing EMP will have either an Individual Education Plan (IEP) (Wave 3) which has been written by the class teacher including a target focused on developing SEMH needs or an intervention plan (Wave 2) that has clear identified outcomes informed by discussion with the class teacher, parents and entry data.

Leaders prioritise, plan and track EMP to ensure that the most disadvantaged children – those eligible for the pupil premium, those with SEND, those who are previously known to social care, are LAC or PLAC  and those who face other barriers to their wellbeing access EMP. 

EMP uses information from the assessment of children’s needs to implement a continuous cycle of plan, do, review to reduce barriers to wellbeing. SEMH targets are identified by the class teacher and reviewed using assessment tools such as SDQ.
