Term 3

This term has been an exciting and productive start to our gardening journey, with a strong focus on planning, preparing, and getting hands-on in our outdoor space.

We began by thinking carefully about what we would like to achieve in our garden and why. Students shared ideas and discussed the importance of growing plants, supporting wildlife, and creating a space that everyone can enjoy. This helped us set clear goals for the term and beyond.

As part of our preparation, we investigated the tools and resources we already have and identified what we still need. To support this, students designed and created posters to request donations, helping to involve the wider school community in our project.

One of our most exciting projects this term has been starting work on Buggingham Palace, our very own bug hotel. Currently in its “shack stage,” it is already beginning to attract insect life. We are continuing to develop and improve it each week, adding new materials to make it an even more welcoming habitat for wildlife.

We have also taken our first steps into planting, with students sowing broad beans and peas in our garden beds. Pupils are beginning to take responsibility for caring for these plants and are enjoying watching them grow.

Overall, it has been a fantastic term of teamwork, creativity, and discovery. We are looking forward to building on this progress and continuing to develop both our garden and our skills in the coming term.
