Term 6 Week 4
This week we went to Bristol Zoo. We had a fantastic day despite the wet start. The children listened really well in the workshop and learnt lots about habitats. Some children even held Hissing cockroaches and stroked a snake and a rat. Here are our photos from the trip.
Term 6 Week 2
This week we said goodbye to Mrs Burton who has now completed her teacher training. We wish her lots of success in her new job. We also started to learn the recorder with Mrs Farr. It is very important that we know left and right!
Term 5 Week 5
We celebrated the end of our topic with a peach party. We made fruit kebabs, played parachute games and watched the end of ‘James and the Giant Peach’. The children have worked extremely hard over the last few weeks completing national tests. I am very proud of all the children.

Term 5 Week 4
What a busy term! Apologies for no updates recently. This week we have been working hard to complete Reading SATs tests. Last week we completed Spelling and Grammar. Next week the children will be working hard on two Maths papers. I have been really proud of the children and the resilience they have shown.
We are continuing our topic on James and the Giant Peach. In Geography we looked at Google Earth and atlases to find the United Kingdom and the USA. (The peach ends up in New York!) The children had fun drawing large maps in the playground.
Term 4 Week 5
We had a great morning at the Multi skills festival at Abbeyfield school today. We tried 14 different activities!
Term 4 Week 4
What a busy week. Our seeds and bulbs are starting to grow, we have enjoyed looking at Monet’s paintings of his garden in France and we have learnt about the life cycle of a plant and plants we eat. We enjoyed our Design Technology session with Mrs Webb and Miss Reeves. We learnt to mix and chop. We made flapjacks and fruit salad. Here are some photos.

Term 4, Week 1:
A busy start to the term. We enjoyed starting our new topic ‘How does your garden grow?’ by making mini gardens. We are hoping that real grass will start to grow in our gardens. Here are some photos of us hard at work....
As Emelia was our Star Learner at the end of Term 3, she presented this week’s award to Neve. Neve consistently tries her best in everything. A fantastic role model! Zachary, Kasandre and Nushrat received Mathletics certificates. Dahl class were 2nd in the attendance awards this week. Well done everyone, be an attendance hero. Here, Everyday, Ready, On time.
Term 3 Week 5:
This week we have been learning the story of Pinocchio in English. In Maths we have learnt about 2d shapes. We have improved our Design Technology skills by making sliders and levers. On Thursday we enjoyed a visit from the Fire service. We learnt how to be safe in a fire. Remember to check your smoke alarms weekly! We practised the “Stop, Drop and Roll” procedure. Well done to Tom who is our Star Learner this week. He has worn the Maths wizard hat a few times for excellent thinking and problem solving. Leo, Elyse, Max and Zachary received bronze Mathletics certificates.
Term 3 Week 2:
This week we have continued to find out about toys in the past. We had an excellent visit from Mr Skelton who told us about toys from Ancient Egypt to the Victorians. We also wrote question to ask Pauline (Riley’s grandma). We found out a lot about the toys she had when she was a child, fifty years ago! She showed us her teddy, stuffed with a straw and a very scary looking doll named Belinda! Here are some photos from Mr Skelton’s visit.
Lillie-Rose was our star learner this week. She is getting much more confident in her learning. Well done Lillie. Tom and Lillie were awarded certificates for 5 entries in the Golden book. Congratulations to Zachary who received his first certificate for Mathletics. Keep up the hard work everyone!
Term 3 - Week 1
The children have all come back to school full of energy and enthusiasm! This term we are finding out How Toys have changed? We started our topic by looking at our favourite toys. What a selection! Here are some photos of our favourite toys.
Term 2 - Week 4 and 5
We are continuing to work hard on our Christmas Nativity and are looking forward to showing parents next week. The stage went up this week and we had fun trying on our costumes. Here's a sneaky peek...
Term 2 Week 3
This week we have been practising our Christmas Nativity. All children in Year 2 have a speaking part so it is important that you learn your lines. Get your tickets from Mrs Jenkins in Donaldson class on Tuesday and Wednesday next week. Well done to James for being our Star Learner this week. He has been doing extra maths learning at home and he achieved a silver certificate in Mathletics this week.
Term 2 Week 2:
We have been super fit and healthy this week. On Wednesday morning we went to Stanley Park to join in with a Football Festival. There were lots of other primary schools there too. We practised lots of different football skills on the huge pitch at Stanley Park. On Thursday we walked to The Dome and participated in a Cricket Festival. We practised bowling, batting, throwing and fielding. It was great fun. We also learnt about keeping our bodies safe and healthy when we went into the Life Van on Thursday afternoon. We loved seeing Harold the giraffe!
Term 2 Week 1
A great start to our new term. Welcome to Hunter and Lacey who have joined our class this week and have already settled in well. We have started learning about Guy Fawkes and the gunpowder plot. We had an exciting start to our topic with some sparklers. We described what we could see, hear and smell.
Term 1 Week 8
The last few days of a busy term. Well done to Isabel who was the Star Learner. She has been working really hard and has really impressed Mrs Cooper with her fantastic attitude to learning.

Term 1 Week 7
A really busy week. It was lovely to see so many parents at Parent's Evening. This week we were shocked to find Sunny the Meerkat had been kidnapped by the Jackal. We have written letters to the Jackal and made Wanted posters. Let's hope Sunny returns safely!
Well done to Archie who was our Star Learner this week. He has impressed us this week with a mature attitude to learning. Mrs Cooper has been on 2 courses this week and the supply teachers have been so pleased with Archie. Amber, Zachary, Tom, Sebi, Isabel, Lola, Maddie, Max, Freya, James, Alfie, Roger, William and Teghan have all been entered into the Golden book.
Congratulations to Amber, Zachary, Sebi, Archie and Freya who were are the first children to get 5 entries in the Golden Book. They all got certificates in assembly.

This week we have been working hard in maths to learn related addition and subtraction facts. So 8+3=11 and 11-3=8. What an amazing start to Mathletics! Well done to Archie, Neve, Elyse, James, Kasandre and Emelia who all achieved a bronze award this week. More tasks have been added. Keep logging on to get more points....

Term 1 Week 4
This week we went on a trip to Chippenham. It was very exciting and we learnt lots about Chippenham in the past. Do you know where 6 pirates were once locked up? or What is the oldest church in Chippenham? or Why does the Angel hotel have a large porch area? Ask your child to see if they can tell you. Well done to Freya for being our Star Learner this week. She showed great resilience in Maths this week and tried really hard to count money in 2s, 5s and 10s. Term 1 - Week 3
This week we have been exploring our local area. We took Sunny the Meerkat on a walk to find physical features in the local area. We found lots of bus stops and zebra crossings! When we got back to school we drew maps and looked at a street map to identify our route. Here are some photos from our walk.
Well done to Toby for being Star Learner this week. He impressed Mrs Cooper with a mature attitude to learning. He wanted to produce the best map that he could and even chose to do extra learning at home on map making.

Term 1 Week 2
Our first full week in school and another busy one. We have been looking at our school and showing it to Sunny the meerkat. We found the UK on a map and looked at aerial photographs of the school.
Well done to Neve for being the Star Learner this week. She always puts a lot of effort into her learning and has been producing great pieces of learning this week.
Neve, Riley, Sebi, Shea, Amber, Teghan, Emelia and Maddie have all been entered into the Golden Book this week. Leo and Tom were entered in the golden book for completing the summer reading challenge. Fantastic!
On Thursday we celebrated Roald Dahl's birthday. Thank you to Alfie and Maddie for sharing some books with us.
Term 1, Week 1
A fantastic start to the term, well done to all the children in Dahl class. Lots of children have received Pot of Gold certificates for working independently and trying their very best.
Maddie and Sebi were chosen to be Star Learners. They have been trying very hard to complete work to the best of their ability, working quietly and independently.
Archie and Paige were entered into the Golden Book for completing the Summer Reading Challenge.
On Friday we completed a treasure trail around our school grounds. We had to search for QR codes and scan them with an ipad to read the clue. Eventually we found the treasure, a meerkat called Sunny and a book 'Meerkat Mail' by Emily Gravett. We are going to be basing our English work on this book over the next few weeks.
