Year 3 Home Learning.
Weekly home learning will be given in line with school policy and in Year 3 consist of:
1. Reading - it is still important that your child is heard read regularly and that they are given the chance to read a variety of different texts and to talk about them with an adult. It is also important that they have other people read books to them. Whilst we will be doing lots of reading in school, to really succeed, it is important that this happens at home too. Each child will have a log book so that this can be recorded. Please help your child remember to bring this and their reading book to school each day.
2. Spelling - From week 2 onwards we will be giving out spelling home learning, based the work we have covered in class that week. The children will be tested on these words each Friday in a variety of ways for example; dictation, partner work.
3. Maths - From week 2 onwards we will be giving maths home learning. Again, this will be based on the work we have covered in class that week or basic arithmetic skills.
For Spelling and Maths home learning the children will be given a folder - the work will be given out on a Friday and should be returned to school, at the latest, by the following Wednesday.
4. Themed home Learning - In KS2 we have a chance for your child to do some exciting creative home learning. This will be fully explained in our parents meeting at the start of term (Friday 15th September, 8.50am). For Year 3 this will be in the form of a project given once a term. The children will have an extended period of time to complete it.
We will be rewarding those children who regularly complete home learning with class rewards and texts home.
Home learning is an important part of the home - school partnership and the evidence is that children who are supported at home make better overall progress.
Thank you for your support.
